Future High Streets applies experience, best practice and innovation to supporting and promoting town centre projects that deliver positive change. We act for developers, investors and local authorities. Most of the work is confidential but here is a section of some of our published work:
John was lead advisor to the GLA, LB Hammersmith & Fulham and RBK&C on the retail context of this major scheme promoted by Capital & Counties. He advised that a smaller retail content was needed as well as a different configuration to the new 'high street".
Dorchester: Brewery Square
John was invited to advise the developers early on when negotiations on the Piers Gough master-plan got bogged down. He re-established relations with the Council and negotiated planning consent on this a large redundant brewery involving over 600 residential units, together with shops, bars, hotels, cinema and arts centre. The first phase is now open, the second complete and the third yet to start. The commercial content is a critical mass with a curated offer, effectively an extension to the town centre and provides a new direct link from station to the main shopping street, South Street.
John was partner at Peter Brett Associates (development and infrastructure consultants) when he led the retail planning support for the successful planning application. The redevelopment of the site, masterplanned by Michael Squire , is underway, involving new retail and food + beverage opportunities for the site’s new residents and visitors.
